Definitions:

The term “participant” in the below refers to participants in The Hague Summer School 2026 as described on the website of Release Peace (link).

Tuition Fee Payment:

1. Tuition fees are non-refundable. To secure participation, the participant must meet the payment deadline.

Unforeseen Circumstances:

2. While the organiser seeks to deliver the Summer School as describe on the website releasepeace.org, the participant is aware that the composition of speakers, teachers, or visits of external organisations that are part of the Summer School may change due to global events, illness of speakers, weather conditions, or other circumstances. In such cases, the organiser will seek to provide a suitable alternative.

Code of Conduct:

3. Bullying, harassment, discrimination (including on the basis of race, sex, sexual orientation, nationality, religion, or other characteristics), or other misconduct will not be tolerated. Serious breaches may result in expulsion from the summer school without a refund of the tuition fee, additionally incurred travel costs, or any other resulting expenses.
4. The host reserves the right to expel a participant from the summer school in case the participant seriously and repeatedly hinders the delivery of the summer school or the learning experience of fellow participants through rude behaviour, drunkenness in class, disregard for the directions of staff or teachers, or other misconduct. This may result in expulsion from the summer school without a refund of the tuition fee, additionally incurred travel costs, or any other resulting expenses.

Liability:

5. The participant agrees to indemnify the host, its staff, and its volunteers against any claims, damages, or expenses arising from the participant’s conduct or breach of programme rules, except where caused by the host’s gross negligence or wilful misconduct.
6. The organiser is not liable for any illness, injury, or loss of personal belongings of the participant during the summer school.
7. The organiser reserves the right to cancel the summer school in the event of a pandemic, natural disasters, government regulation, or any force majeure. The organiser will not be liable for costs or expenses incurred by participants prior to cancellation.

Handling of Personal Data:

8. By participating in the summer school, you agree to our privacy policy. Your data will be used solely for administrative purposes in accordance with the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Any documents you have submitted (CV, letter of motivation, grades, etc.) are handled strictly confidentially and internally.
9. The summer school’s agenda includes visits of embassies and international institutions. Some of them request the names and nationalities of visitors for security reasons. The participant permits the organiser to share this information with them.
