Admission Requirements
Even though The Hague Summer School is highly selective, we believe that an applicant is more than only the prestige of their university or the subjects on their transcript. We have set up a personalised application process and do not run your application through an automated/AI screening system. Each application is assessed individually by a member of our team. We will assess the totality of your studies to date, your motivation letter, extracurricular activities, grades, and anything else you find of importance. As we are aware that you are excited to participate in the summer school, we will reply to your application within 3 days after receiving it. You are encourage not to wait until the application deadline.

Applicants must fulfil ALL of the below admission requirements:
Applicants must also fulfil ONE of the below admission requirements:
You are currently enrolled at a nationally accredited institution of higher education, or have completed your higher education within the past 12 months.
Your English language proficiency must be sufficient for following academic education at a high level. You can evidence this in three ways:
(1) your academic education was/is at least 75% taught in English; or
(2) you hold citizenship of a majority English-speaking country; or
(3) you have an IELTS score of at least 7.5 or a TOEFL score of at least 105 that was achieved within the past 4 years.
You have the equivalent of 50 ECTS (EU) or 30 credits (US) in subjects of the Social Sciences or Humanities by 31 July 2026.
You submit a motivation letter of 500 words (roughly one page). Please note that any word count beyond 500 words will be disregarded by the admissions officer.
You submit your CV. Please note that for applicants from the US or Canada, what we refer to as a “CV” on our website is identical to a “resume” in North American vernacular.
You are at least 18 years of age.
For countries with undergraduate degrees of 4 years: You will have completed your second year of undergraduate education by July 2026 or in earlier years.
For countries with undergraduate degrees of 3 years: You will have completed your first year of undergraduate education by July 2026 or in earlier years.
You are a master’s student.
You have completed your bachelor’s or master’s degree within the past 12 months at the time of your application.

3) Your course list, showing your grades and credits. This should include courses of the current semester (incl. grades if possible) and showcase that you have/will achieve the required credits. The list does not need to be an official transcript at the time of your application, but you are required to submit an official transcript no later than two weeks before the summer school commences.
